Aishiki Banerjee Ph.D. Research Associate for the Biomarker Discovery Laboratory /images/Pathology/godwin/banerjee-aishiki.jpg <p>PhD- Biotechnology and Bioinformatics (Microbiology), North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, India, 2019</p> <p>MS- Applied Microbiology, VIT University, Vellore, India, 2011</p> <p>BS &ndash; Microbiology (Honors), University of Burdwan, India, 2009</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Research Focus: I am working as a Research Associate at the University of Kansas Medical Center supporting investigators through the Biomarker Discovery Lab (BDL) and the Kansas Institute for Precision Medicine COBRE Biobanking and Biomarker Validation (BBV) Core.&nbsp; My work utilizes advanced techniques for the isolation and various analyses of nucleic acids (DNA, RNA, miRNA, cfDNA, <em>etc.</em>) including expression and mutational analysis to help understand their role in cancer development and progression and in early detection of disease.&nbsp; I am also working on spatial transcriptomic analysis for human and mouse tissue samples using the Nanostring GeoMx platform.&nbsp; The research projects that I support through the BDL and BBV Core aim to identify potential early detection biomarkers and potential therapeutic targets to help reduce the overall mortality associated with cancer and other diseases.</p>
