Nicole Freund, PhD (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. In this role she assists medical students, residents, and faculty to complete scholarly activity in the course of their work serving patients and the greater community. Dr. Freund has a diverse background that includes psychology, applied research, and marketing, having earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English composition, a Masters in Business Administration, and a Master’s and PhD in Psychology. She has also created space for multiple partners (in the private and public sectors) to explore innovative data collection through the use of technology and non-traditional platforms. Additionally, Dr. Freund served as editor of the Global Journal of Community Psychology Practice for three years and continues to consult with that publication as an editorial contributor.

Research
Overview
Dr. Freund's research has included global qualitative studies using traditional as well as asynchronous, online methodologies and has spent her career collaborating across disciplines, stakeholder groups, and decision-making interests. She has over a decade of experience planning research and quality initiatives/program evaluation projects as well as analyzing and synthesizing both qualitative and quantitative data across multiple methods. Dr. Freund has also consulted and contributed to several strategic planning efforts in both for-profit and nonprofit organizations. Her focus on applied research is aimed at helping decision makers use data to inform policy and programming.
