History

Founded in 1999, Women in Medicine and Science aims to provide all women with the opportunity and the tools needed to succeed in academic medicine. Our success and effectiveness are significantly higher as the result of so many who believe in our mission, and we are very thankful for this support.

Our Mission

  • To be proactive and constructive in establishing and advancing the careers of women in medicine and science
  • To educate women on relevant KU policies and procedures for career development and advancement
  • To enhance and foster the professional development of all women faculty and trainees through encouragement and mentoring, and to encourage growth, networking and quality within our community (local and national)
  • To promote the process of developing long-term, mutually beneficial relationships and cultivating new opportunities for collaboration through a supportive exchange of ideas and resources.
