Professional Background

Dr. Won Choi is a Professor in the Department of Population Health at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and currently serves as the Vice Chair for Education. He also serves as the Executive Director of the bi-campus MPH Program in Kansas City and Wichita.

He received his BS from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and his MPH from Boston University School of Public Health. After completing his MPH he worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention before moving on to complete his PhD in Epidemiology from the University of California San Diego and San Diego State University.

Dr. Choi's primary research is in the area of reducing health disparities related to tobacco use, especially among the American Indian population.

He also currently co-leads the TL1 training program for the Frontiers: University of Kansas Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
