Professional Background

Dr. Poplin is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. She completed her undergraduate and medical school studies at the University of Missouri Kansas City. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Infectious Diseases Fellowship at University of Kansas Medical Center. Her interests include general infectious diseases, HIV, fungal diagnostics, antimicrobial stewardship and medical education. Dr. Poplin serves as the antimicrobial stewardship program director for the Southwest Market of The University of Kansas Health System.

Research

Overview

Dr. Poplin's research during fellowship focused on quality improvement and fungal diagnostics. She also participated in other quality improvement projects pertaining to HIV care and de-labeling antibiotic allergies. As faculty she continues to pursue her interests in quality improvement, diagnostics as well as antimicrobial stewardship.
