Professional Background

Tyler Titcomb, Ph.D., RDN, is an assistant professor in the KU Department of Dietetics and Nutrition at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. He joined the faculty of the School of Health Professions in July 2025. He teaches course DN 834 Research Methods in KU's master's degree program in dietetics and nutrition and serves as a research mentor to students. Prior to arriving at KU, Titcomb held a research associate position in the departments of Internal Medicine and Epidemiology at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.

After completing a bachelor's degree in nutrition and dietetics from the University of North Dakota in 2015, Titcomb acquired a certificate in global health from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2018. He earned his doctorate in nutritional sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2019 and added a certificate in clinical and translational sciences from the University of Iowa in 2022.

Actively involved in regional and national professional associations, Titcomb currently is a member of the American Society for Nutrition and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.


Research

Overview

Titcomb is very active in research and scholarship; he has an extensive record of published papers across an expansive number of significant journals. His current research interests include metabolic risk factors and neurodegenerative diseases as well as neurodegenerative disease and health-related outcomes. He's also studying dietary patterns in neurodegenerative and chronic diseases.
