Professional Background

Dr. Johnson is dedicated to providing compassionate care to her patients. She attended medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center where she graduated with highest distinction. She then completed her residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Dr. Johnson returned home to the Midwest for her fellowship as an Academic Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology at KU to grow her research and education acumen. She was delighted to join the faculty at the University of Kansas.She is passionate about providing evidence-based care for pregnancy, including patients interested in vaginal birth after cesarean section (VBAC). Dr. Johnson trained with midwives during residency and enjoys incorporating those skills into the patient care she provides.. Her practice focuses on helping patients navigate pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum, particularly for patients with traumatic or challenging birth experiences or a complex surgical history.She enjoys full scope gynecology practice including adolescent gynecology, contraception, heavy or abnormal periods, and bleeding after menopause. She performs minor and major surgeries including vulvovaginal, hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgeries. Dr. Johnson wants all her patients to feel heard, understand their medical condition, and feel comfortable with their care.
