The Division of Student Services at the University of Kansas Medical Center is committed to fostering a sense of community between students, faculty and staff. Through the provision of high quality services which promote the academic and non-academic aspects of the education and training of the health care professionals, the Student Services staff is committed to supporting the Medical Center's goals of excellence in teaching, patient care and research.

There are many opportunities made available through the Division of Student Services which can enhance your life at KUMC. The primary goal of the division is to provide essential support services that assist students as they pursue their academic goals and to coordinate the departments in the division so as to ensure that they are efficient, accessible and "user-friendly."

The office of Vince Loffredo, Ed.D.,Vice Chancellor of Student Services is located on the third floor in Room 3001 of the Student Center. The Vice Chancellor is available to visit with students about any concerns or problems they are encountering. Walk-in students are welcome or students can call to schedule an appointment. Confidentiality is honored.

The Student Lounge
is located on the ground level of the Student Center. Also on the ground level you will find a telephone and television with cable, vending machines, sink, refrigerator, pool table, fooseball table and ping pong. There are also couches and chairs for your comfort. Francisco Lounge is located on the lobby level and has a telephone by the fireplace. Study space and small meeting rooms are on the first level of the Student Center. There is also wireless computer access available.

Counseling and Education Support Services

This service offers both personal and academic counseling as well as psychiatric services. The staff consists of three doctoral-level psychologists, three learning resource specialists and a psychiatrist. The professional staff is available free of charge to assist you with those challenges. Strict guidelines relating to confidentiality are maintained.

The University of Kansas utilizes an integrated student information system that provides a number of academic and enrollmnet services for students on all campuses (Kansas City, Wichita, Lawrence, and Edwards).

Kirmayer Fitness Center is a two story 50,000 square foot facility designed to promote fitness and wellness among members of the University of Kansas Medical Center.

  • Annual registration of Student Organizations
  • Through the Student Governing Council, provide free legal service and free tickets to various cultural and sporting events
  • Leadership to the Community Outreach Program
  • Leadership to Students Educating & Advocating for Diversity.
  • Coordination of the KUMC Student Wellness Program that encourages students to develop and maintain a balanced approach to life through cultural, emotional, intellectual, physical, spiritual and social dimensions of wellness. Programs and speakers on wellness related issues are provided.
