Professional Background

Dr. Samuel Ofei-Dodoo serves as the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine (KUSM-W). In this role, he oversees the Honors, Certificates of Distinction, and Enrichment Programs, contributes to the implementation of coaching and advising programs, and manages various student affairs initiatives. Dr. Ofei-Dodoo also holds the position of Editor-in-Chief/Managing Editor for the Kansas Journal of Medicine.

He completed his doctoral training in 2016 and holds degrees in cross-disciplinary fields, including graduate certificates in public health and nonprofit management. Dr. Ofei-Dodoo is a certified public health professional with research interests in clinical and population-based areas. His work focuses on professional burnout among physicians, residents, and medical students, exploring the impact of burnout and emotional distress on health care professionals, especially medical trainees. Additionally, he is actively engaged in studying intervention approaches for preventing and managing burnout and emotional distress.

Dr. Ofei-Dodoo has eceived several awards, including the 2026 Bridge Award, which recognizes individuals who help students navigate transitions during medical school. They also are a recipient of the 2024 Health Care Hero Award and the 2021 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award, both from the Wichita Business Journal, as well as the 2008 Lee Holder Award of Excellence in Graduate Education from the Alpha Eta National Allied Health Society.
