Professional Background

Shannon Bowerman Lavigne, Ph.D., (she/her) is a clinical neuropsychologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Kansas School of Medicine - Wichita. She provides comprehensive neuropsychological assessments for adults experiencing neurologic, medical, and psychological symptoms. Her clinical interests include young-onset dementias, pre- and post-surgical evaluations, and interventions for individuals diagnosed with Functional Neurologic Disorder (FND). Dr. Lavigne is actively involved with the education and training of practicum students, interns, fellows, and residents at KUSM-W.

Dr. Lavigne completed her postdoctoral fellowship at UT Health San Antonio and Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer's Disease and Neurodegenerative Diseases (an NIA-designated Alzheimer's Disease Research Center). During her fellowship, she was an active member of multidisciplinary teams addressing complex neurodegenerative, movement, and epilepsy-related disorders. Her research interests focus on improving care for underrepresented populations and rural communities, as well as exploring health disparities in dementia care.

At KU, Dr. Lavigne intends to expand specialized services and clinics, while continuing her dedication to education, research, and clinical excellence.
