Professional Background

Dr. Sarah Keim, PhD is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Keim was born and raised in Chadron, Nebraska. She attended Chadron State College for her undergraduate education and received a bachelor’s in Medical Technology from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She later completed her PhD in Genetics, Cell Biology and Anatomy at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Keim joined our faculty in 2020.
Dr. Keim's focus is on medical education. She has taught anatomy, embryology, neuroscience, and histology to medical, physical therapy, and physician assistant students in the past. Her research interests include utilizing and promoting the use of lightly-embalmed cadavers as a model for clinical procedures and also active learning strategies to promote learning.
