Professional Background
I am an early-career Internal Medicine Hospitalist and Physician Advisor. I joined The University of Kansas Health System in 2010 as undergraduate student researcher in the Department of Microbiology, Molecular Genetics and Immunology. I went on to receive my Medical Degree from KU School of Medicine in 2016 and completed my Internal Medicine residency training in 2019 at KUMC.
I am dedicated to delivering patient-centered care in a high-acuity inpatient setting. My primary professional focus is Observation Medicine with an emphasis on improving patient throughput while prioritizing patient safety.
As a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, I am driven to continue expanding my medical knowledge through professional development and teaching medical students and residents. As one of nine Physician Advisors for our Health System, my responsibilities include advocating for both patients and our Health System to ensure proper utilization of resources (UR Secondary Review), completing Peer-to-Peer calls with Health Insurance Payors, and staffing the Transfer Center hotline.
I currently serve on our Health System's Observation Task Force and Hospitalist Advisory Committee.
My professional interests include observation medicine, utilization review, medical education, professional development. My personal interests include holistic health and wellness, nutrition, weight training, travel, urban homesteading and vegetable gardening, playing piano and refining my Italian-language skills.
