Practice

The Office of Practice can assist with credentialing, continuing education, and selecting a site, helping you to optimize the practice experience for patients and providers.

Nursing is a practice discipline, and as such, it is important for a ranked school of nursing to share its expertise in clinical practice just as this knowledge is shared in classroom learning.

Since 1992, the KU School of Nursing has helped advanced practice nurses partner in clinical environments with other health care providers. Recently, the School of Nursing expertise has expanded to leadership, with faculty serving in contracted positions with school districts, safety net clinics and long-term care environments. This is one of many ways that the talents of KU nursing faculty are influencing patient outcomes in traditional and non-traditional settings.

The Office of Practice in the KU School of Nursing is an innovative approach to engage faculty and students in registered nurse and advanced practice nursing practice opportunities, in combination with research or teaching within the KU School of Nursing. As of October 2017, all KU School of Nursing faculty members can choose to practice as part of their faculty responsibilities.

The Office of Practice can assist with credentialing, continuing education and selecting a site. In addition, we actively work with management consulting services to optimize the practice experience for both patients and providers.

To learn more about advanced practice opportunities, please contact Amy Garcia, DNP, RN, CENP at agarcia5@kumc.edu, or Lauren Roberts, Business Operations, at lroberts6@kumc.edu.
