Information for International Students
We welcome qualified international applicants for our pre-licensure BSN program. However, limits on online coursework for international students make international students ineligible for many of our graduate and undergraduate programs.
International Students Overview
KU’s traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program accepts international students, if they meet requirements outlined below. International students are not eligible to apply for the online RN-to-BSN program, Community College Nursing Partnership Program or graduate programs.
An applicant is considered an international student if he or she requires a visa, currently resides in the U.S. with non-immigrant status or currently resides in the U.S. while applying for permanent residency. Additional requirements and documentation, such as proof of English language proficiency, are required for international students to become eligible for KU programs.
Transcript Requirements
A NACES-accredited transcript evaluation service must provide a course-by-course evaluation of an international student’s degree including a grade and credit-hour equivalency. This is needed to facilitate the transfer of specific courses into the degree requirements of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Examples are World Education Services, Educational Credential Evaluators and Educational Records Evaluation Service. Official copies of the evaluation must be sent to the School of Nursing, Office of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management when applying.
English Language Requirements
Bachelor of Nursing students are required to have strong command of the English language. All applicants, whether domestic or international, who are not native speakers of English, meet the minimum English proficiency requirement to be admitted.
