About the Professorship
In 2002, KU School of Medicine's Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) Program received an endowment from Joy McCann Culverhouse and Robert Daugherty, M.D., through the Joy McCann Foundation. This endowment established the Joy McCann Professorship.
The professorship is awarded every three academic years to a faculty member who has demonstrated leadership and shown a history of mentoring students, residents and fellow faculty members. Terms last three years.
The professorship is to be used to encourage, inspire, and reward faculty in their academic careers and support the recipient's program plan for three years. The Joy McCann Professor recipient will receive an annual monetary award.
