Department-Based Faculty Resource & Educational Sessions designed to share information, tools, and guidance on faculty-focused topics. These sessions may include short lectures or interactive workshops, overviews of faculty development programs and services (such as promotion and tenure guidance or CV development support), and content tailored to the specific needs of departments.
In addition, Individual Consultations include one-on-one meetings focused on Career Development, Promotion & Tenure preparation, and Curriculum Development. These structured conversations offer personalized feedback, help clarify goals, identify opportunities for growth, and outline actionable next steps.

This is for KU School of Medicine faculty who want structured, one-on-one support in thinking intentionally about their career trajectory or optimizing preparation for the Annual Faculty Assessment (AFA) with department leaders. In these meetings, we’ll clarify interests and goals, assess your current state and development needs, and talk through opportunities and pathways aligned with where you’d like to go.

1:1 Consultation
Individual consultations provide structured, one-on-one support tailored to your specific goals, questions, or career planning needs.
Sessions may include:

Career Development meetings are helpful at any stage of your career, particularly if you are:
- Preparing for your Annual Faculty Assessment (AFA)
- Considering new academic roles or leadership pathways
- Clarifying long-term goals
- Seeking intentional career reflection and planning
KU School of Medicine faculty may consider scheduling a Curriculum Development Consultations in the following situations:
- Annually
- When new content is being added
- Before the start of a course
- After a course concludes, particularly when reviewing Student Feedback Survey results
KU School of Medicine faculty are encouraged to schedule a consultation one to two years prior to anticipated promotion, though earlier conversations are welcome.
No. Promotion & Tenure consultations are advisory in nature. They are designed to help faculty understand expectations, identify potential gaps early, and plan next steps. They are not formal evaluations.
