Across Kansas, rural communities are the heart of our state — strong, resilient and full of promise. Yet, many continue to face barriers to health care access, workforce shortages and unequal health outcomes. The Kansas Center for Rural Health was created to change that.
Launched in 2022 by the University of Kansas School of Medicine, the center aims to serve as a convener and catalyst for improving rural health. We bring together educators, researchers, health care professionals, policymakers and community partners to find solutions that make a real difference in the lives of Kansans. Our work aligns with the University of Kansas Medical Center’s commitment to advancing health through discovery, learning and collaboration.

The Kansas Center for Rural Health exists to reduce rural health disparities and strengthen rural health care systems through education, research and service. We envision vibrant rural communities across Kansas — places where people have equitable access to care, strong local health systems and opportunities to live healthy, fulfilling lives.
