Dr. Liang Xu received a Medical Doctor equivalent degree from The Fourth Military Medical University in Xi'an, China. Also at The Fourth Military Medical University, Dr. Xu completed a specialist fellowship in medical oncology / gastroenterology, received his Ph.D. in tumor biology / molecular immunology, and served as resident / clinical fellow in the Department of Gastroenterology / Oncology. Following this, Dr. Xu completed three post-doctoral research fellow appointments, first in the Experimental Immunology Unit of the University of Louvain in Brussels, Belgium, second in the Department of Surgery / Otolaryngology at Stanford University Medical Center, and finally in the Department of Oncology at the Lomardi Cancer Center of Georgetown University. With an extensive history of academic appointments, Dr. Xu most recently serves in multiple roles at the University of Kansas, University of Kansas Cancer Center, and the University of Kansas School of Medicine since 2010. Dr. Xu's area of research interest is molecular therapy targeting cancer stem cells, and he is the recipient of multiple NIH and DOD grants.
