Kansas Department for Children and Families
Offers cash assistance, food assistance, child care services, energy assistance, child support services, and rehabilitation services to those who qualify.
Go to the Kansas Department for Children and Families website and click the “Check to see if you may be eligible for benefits and services” link. Create a user name and password to apply for Cash Assistance or call 1-888-369-4777.

MO HealthNet
Missouri’s health insurance program. There are programs for kids, pregnant women, and low-income families.
There are a number of different ways to apply for MO HealthNet:
- You can now complete and submit an English MHK application online.
- You can call your local Family Support Division office and ask them to mail you an application. You can find your local office here.
- You can go to your local Family Support Division office to apply for MHK. You can find your local office here.
The Family Conservancy

Safe Home
SAFEHOME is an accredited provider of shelter and comprehensive support services for victims of domestic violence in Johnson and Miami Counties, Kansas. At the shelter, SAFEHOME offers counseling and services to victims of domestic violence and their children. Outreach Counseling offers support to individuals and families not living at the shelter and to those who are participating in SAFEHOME Transitional Living Program. Other services include community education and prevention, legal services provided by an on-site, licensed attorney and on-site advocacy at the Johnson County District Court and all local hospitals.

Community Action Agency of Greater Kansas City
Community Action Agency of Greater Kansas City (CAAGKC) targets individuals who are homeless or in immediate danger of being homeless. Besides financial assistance, they use a case management approach to help the client to become more self-sufficient. Salvation Army
Midwest Customer Cares Program – designed to help Kansas families needing assistance in paying their winter heating bills. To qualify, you must be a Midwest Energy customer, and you must have a household income less than 200% of the federal poverty level. Assistance is available from November 1st through the end of April, or when the funding is exhausted, whichever comes first. Applicants may receive no more than $200 per heating season.

Share The Warmth – designed to help Kansas families needing assistance in paying their winter heating bills. To qualify, you must reside in one of the 81 counties served by Kansas Gas Service, but applicants are not required to be a Kansas Gas Service customer. You must be the person responsible for paying the primary heating bill in that residence. You must provide sufficient proof of need. Your gross family income may not exceed 200% of the federal poverty level.

Sharing the Warmth – designed to help Kansas families needing assistance in paying their winter heating bills. To qualify you must reside in one of the 33 counties served by ATMOS Energy, Inc., and be seeking assistance with an ATMOS Energy bill. Applicants must reside in home and be the person responsible for paying the bill. Gross family income may not exceed 200% of the federal poverty level guideline. Funding is distributed on a first come, first served basis. The program runs year round and applicants may receive assistance three times per program period for no more than $200 each time.

KCP&L Economic Relief Program – provides assistance to Missouri families needing assistance in paying their electric bill. To qualify, applicant must reside in Missouri and reside in home and be the person responsible for paying the bill. Gross family income may not exceed 200% of the federal poverty level guideline. Applicant must be current on bill. Funding is limited and distributed on a first come, first served bases. Available spots fill up quickly, and become open only when someone else drops off the plan. Approved applicants may receive up to $50 towards electric bill for 12 months.

Kansas SNAP (Food Stamps)
The Food Assistance Program provides qualifying low-income households in Kansas with food benefits, access to a healthy diet and education on food preparation and nutrition. It provides crucial support to elderly households, to low-income working households, to other low-income households that include the unemployed or disabled and to households transitioning from welfare to work. Food assistance customers can spend their benefits to buy eligible nutritious food and plants and seeds to grow food for their household to eat. Missouri SNAP (Food Stamps)
The Food Stamp Program is designed to promote the general welfare and safeguard the health and well-being of Missouri’s population by raising the levels of nutrition among low-income households. The benefits may be used to purchase any food or food products prepared for human consumption except alcoholic beverages and tobacco, hot foods, or foods prepared for immediate consumption.

We provide free physician visits and labs for underinsured patients wishing to undergo hormone replacement therapy, with the understanding that they will finance their own hormone replacement medication ($40-$70/month). We offer both masculinizing and feminizing transition therapies. It is important to note that we are not able to provide primary health services or treat any other conditions apart from Hormone Replacement Therapy (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.). We will email you back with additional information as well as a short application. Ideal candidates are English-speaking, 18 years of age or older, and able to afford hormone replacement medications.
