About MEDPATH

The MEDPATH Program is a twelve-month Post-Baccalaureate academic program designed to strengthen the biological and social sciences foundation of students preparing for careers in medicine.

As a result of the successful completion of the program with a 3.25 G.P.A., each participant will gain conditional admission and matriculate into the University of Kansas School of Medicine the following fall.

Courses and Activities

The program includes two academic semesters (fall and spring) followed by a summer Pre-Matriculation program. During the academic semesters, participants will enroll in a full-time course of study; twelve credit hours during the fall and spring semesters is considered full-time.

Courses are taken on the Edwards campus and are selected for each student based on their background in order to strengthen their foundation for medical school. In addition, students will participate, as a cohort, in team building, professionalism, peer-to-peer facilitation, mentoring, research and clinical experience.

Eligibility

• Completion of an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
• The student has applied to the University of Kansas School of Medicine and been granted an interview, the student may then receive an invitation to apply to the Med Path Program if admission is not offered.
• Stronger consideration will be given to first generation college attendees.
• Stronger consideration will be given to applicants from health professional underserved areas.
