Assessment and Evaluation
The Office of Medical Education (OME) is responsible for program evaluation within the School of Medicine. The Assessment and Evaluation (A&E) unit of OME develops and manages the system by which students evaluate all their modules and clerkships, including construction of evaluation tools, collection, analysis, management of student evaluation data, and preparation and distribution of results to the block and clerkship directors, Phase I & II committees and the Education Council. The office also conducts the faculty evaluations for the Phase I curriculum and distributes the reports to each faculty member and their department chair. A&E also works directly with block and clerkship directors and others in OME for the creation and evaluation of assessment tools to monitor student performance and progress toward achieving graduation competencies throughout the curriculum. It oversees the inclusion of assessment data into the student dashboard, KaceS. A&E directly monitors accreditation requirements related to assessment and evaluation. Finally, A&E carries out and promotes medical education research and scholarship through consultation on educational research design and implementation, survey construction, statistical analysis, and manuscript development for residents and faculty.
