Gross Anatomy Laboratory

The Gross Anatomy Laboratory at KU School of Medicine-Kansas City was established in 2020. It is directed and operated by the Office of Medical Education.

The anatomy lab is located on the fourth floor of Orr-Major. It is approximately 4,800 square feet. Features of the lab include:

  • Monitors and overhead surgical lights at each of the 30 tanks, along with adaptors to hook up personal devices.
  • Two teaching stations, each equipped with three monitors, surgical lighting and cameras to record and project to other monitors.
  • Wireless internet, anatomical models and headset cameras.
  • A conference room and locker rooms are also available.

Laboratory Mission

Our mission is to provide excellence in anatomical science education to students, health care professionals and to the community, and to advance knowledge through scholarship. To fulfill this mission, the program seeks to develop and/or adopt innovative teaching methods to better facilitate anatomy education and to create courses to meet the educational needs of the programs we serve.
