The Academy Membership Committee reviews application materials and provides the Academy with recommendations of new members. Academy members with voting rights (regular and emeritus members) make final decisions about which candidates are welcomed to the Academy.

Regular Membership

Candidates may self-nominate or be nominated by their department chair, division director, Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education (or equivalent), or the Executive Dean. Members who meet eligibility criteria are expected to contribute a minimum of 10 hours of service annually through leadership, mentorship, and scholarly activities that support the Academy's mission.

Emeritus Membership

Emeritus members are appointed by the Academy and generally serve through retirement. Emeritus members receive the same privileges as regular members and are often called on to serve as mentors. Emeritus membership is intended to honor faculty with a history of exemplary teaching and faculty mentorship.
