Mission 

The mission of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) in the School of Medicine is to recruit, retain and promote a diverse cadre of students and faculty working together to achieve health equity. We are committed to providing the cognitive and material resources needed to create and maintain a campus climate that is conducive to unlocking the potential of all students, residents, and faculty and achieving educational excellence.  

Vision 

Over the next decade, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Kansas School of Medicine will establish itself as a national leader by purposefully recruiting, retaining and promoting students, faculty, and residents that mirror the communities that we aspire to partner with and serve. ODI will provide the guidance and diversity expertise necessary to support KUMC’s efforts to achieve inclusive excellence and health equity in Kansas and beyond.  

Goals 

  1. Recruit, retain, and promote diverse students and faculty. 
  2. Promote and develop curricular offering and educational programming that are aligned with ODI’s mission. 
  3. Develop and promote scholarship centered around inclusive excellence and health equity.
