Swathy Chandrashekhar, MBBS, M.D.

Swathy Chandrashekhar, MBBS, M.D., earned her medical degree from JJM Medical College, Davangere, India. She then completed her neurology residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, where she also served as chief resident during her final year. She then obtained a fellowship in neuromuscular medicine from the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she is now an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology.

Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, her clinical focus is to provide comprehensive and compassionate care for neuromuscular disorders including myasthenia gravis, ALS, immune-mediated neuropathies and myopathies among others. She performs EMG/NCS for nerve and muscle disorders and is fellowship-trained in the performance and interpretation of muscle biopsies. She has a keen interest in educating medical students and residents, she has received awards for excellence in teaching through residency and has completed the Residents as Teachers-Scholars Program at KU Medical Center during her fellowship.

She has lectured at university grand rounds and presented several abstracts at national and international meetings. As an upcoming researcher, she has published and presented on ALS, genetic and immune-mediated neuropathy, and is looking forward to expanding her scope upon joining the neuromuscular faculty ranks at KU Medical Center.
