Mary Ann Kavalir, MSN, APRN, is a clinical instructor in neurology. Since 2004, she also has served as coordinator and substitute investigator for "Stimulation of the Anterior Nucleus of the Thalamus in Epilepsy" study.
As a family nurse practitioner with the University of Kansas Medical Center's Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and the University of Kansas Health System/University of Kansas Physicians, Kavalir provides care and education for in-patient and outpatient clients with epilepsy.
She worked as a licensed practical nurse for 10 years before becoming a registered nurse in 1995. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Kavalir was the recipient of the Riss Family Award for Excellence in Neuroscience Nursing in 2008. Presented by The University of Kansas Health System, winners of this honor are nominated by unit nurses, managers and physicians.
