PATH Clinic - Prenatal Access for Teens’ Health

Teenage mothers face many unique challenges to receiving healthcare in addition to managing their daily lives. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, we are now providing care that is catered to address these needs in hope to improve both their healthcare and lifestyle. At the clinic, we provide both education and support targeted to expecting teenage mothers from local high schools.

Mothers will be able to establish an ongoing relationship with a personal health care provider to provide comprehensive, accessible and affordable care. Along with being seen by a University of Kansas health care provider, group formatted visits are used to create a positive learning environment and encourage peer support between the mothers. Group discussions are facilitated by a variety of specialists that provide valuable information in areas like pregnancy, parenthood, and finances.

Patients may enroll themselves in the clinic, be referred by school nurses/counselors, or may be identified by Wyandotte County Health Department.
