Excellence in Child Health and Development

Mother and son hugging

This fund supports efforts for exemplary clinical services, family support, and research in the area of developmental disability.

Priorities are directed towards efforts that directly benefit families. Current priorities include scholarships for under insured or uninsured individuals, family support services regarding "next steps" following diagnosis, resource development for transition planning, and research.

Friends make possible:

• Roadmap to Transition: Navigating the service system difficult and confusing. This collaborative project with CCHD and the Systems in Sync Project under the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) will provide a website to help Kansans transition from school into adult life. This online roadmap will identify all resources to help Kansans to work toward a seamless transition in medical, educational, employment, leisure, and independent living. Look for this resource in winter of 2012.

• Next steps: After a diagnosis, many families struggle to determine their "next steps". This service helps families navigate the often complicated service system.
