KU Wichita's Neonatology division is located within Wesley Medical Center's newborn special care nursery complex. The NICU at Wesley was the first in the state of Kansas and is the largest in a seven-state region. Nearly 6,500 babies are born at Wesley each year and more than 1,000 babies are admitted to the newborn special nurseries. 

The division is active in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives which result in high level performance and publications. The board-certified faculty neonatologists are committed to training medical students and residents interested in newborn intensive care.
