KU School of Medicine-Wichita Pediatrics, Child Abuse and Neglect Division

Drs. Kathy Melhorn and Kerri WeeksKU Wichita Pediatrics provides a full scope of care for child victims of maltreatment including physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. Our outpatient providers are board-certified in general pediatrics and child abuse pediatrics. We are committed to providing compassionate and timely care for this vulnerable population of children age birth through 18 years. When inpatient care is needed, we partner with the Wesley Children's Hospital to provide inpatient consultation around-the-clock.

Our physicians are active in child abuse prevention and education around the state. We collaborate with many community groups and agencies to support families at risk. We are also committed to providing education to medical students and residents, both in the clinic setting and the classroom. In addition, we participate in important medical research in areas such as abusive head trauma.  As the region's only Child Abuse Pediatrics providers, we serve hundreds of children annually.

If you suspect that a child you know is being abused, please call the Kansas Protection Report Center at 1-800-922-5330.
