The KU Wichita Adolescent Clinic commits to enhancing the quality of teens' lives by improving adolescent health with dedicated service to our community through outstanding clinical care, excellent resident education, and innovative research in the field of adolescent medicine.

We provide comprehensive primary care to teens in the region with services including sports physicals, mental health (depression, anxiety, and referral to therapy), reproductive (contraception and STD care), eating disorders, risk screening, and routine primary care (well-child checks and KanBe Healthy exams). We strive to provide quality, non-judgmental care for ages 11-21 regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual identity or orientation. We also offer confidential care to adolescents as recommended by national pediatric and adolescent medical societies.

As faculty at the KU School of Medicine-Wichita, we take opportunities in our clinical practice to train residents and medical students and to further the understanding of adolescent health by developing and participating in medical research.

Going to school every day, playing outside, participating in sports, and sleeping through the night are our goals for patients with asthma, one of the most common chronic childhood diseases.

Asthma treatment is not just about medication management. It's about understanding the disease and gaining the confidence to manage it effectively. We believe that by building a partnership with the entire family, a child with asthma can achieve the best possible control of the disease.

Cerebral Palsy/Medically Complex

Serving children and families with complex medical needs including, but not limited to, cerebral palsy and neuromuscular conditions. Clinics held on Wednesday mornings.

Families caring for children with medical complexity face unique challenges. The aim of our multidisciplinary approach in the cerebral palsy/medically complex children's clinic is to engage with these families at all levels. The medical input, although important, does not achieve its purpose without care coordination and effective communication between all the different stakeholders. We focus on these aspects to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients. We have established relationships with several pediatric subspecialists, and this allows us to engage with them as required for more specific needs. We view the primary care providers as being central to the patient's care and consider this partnership vital in achieving success for the patient. For more information, see our brochure (PDF).

Cystic Fibrosis

Coordinate management of Cystic Fibrosis for patients of all ages. Pediatric patients are seen on Wednesdays.

The team consists of physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, social workers, clinical psychologists, and dieticians.

Failure to Thrive

KU Wichita Pediatrics physicians are dedicated to providing quality care to our tiniest of patients with the goal of having happy, healthy children. The pediatric failure to thrive clinic is designed to evaluate infants and young children when concerns for inadequate growth arise. The clinic is offered by Gretchen Homan M.D., a board certified pediatrician, along with our dietician and social work team members.

Ideally, any previous growth charts and outside records will be reviewed prior to the first visit. Most patients will have an initial evaluation followed by ongoing growth monitoring appointments over time to evaluate the effectiveness of the individualized assessment and treatment plan. We are happy to see patients from all over the Kansas region and can coordinate with your primary care provider to identify a health care plan that fits for you.

General Pediatrics
