Clerkship
Third-Year Clerkship |
Fourth-Year Senior Electives |
Many educational opportunities await you in pediatrics both in the third-year clerkship and in fourth-year senior electives. Student experiences range from participation in a state-of-the-art pediatric intensive care unit in Wichita to traveling to a rural community in Kanas to learn about rural medicine. The Department of Pediatrics has outstanding full-time faculty and volunteer faculty preceptors who enjoy teaching and strive to provide a comfortable, yet challenging learning environment with many opportunities for patient interaction.
The third-year clerkship is six weeks long. Student inpatient opportunities include participation on the wards, the PICU and newborn. Student outpatient opportunities include participation in the Pediatric Faculty Clinic and with a community preceptor.
Some of the fourth-year senior electives we offer include pediatric cardiology, pediatric infectious disease, pediatric endocrinology, pediatric neurology, child development, ambulatory pediatrics, newborn care, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, pediatric critical care and pediatric subinternships. Additionally, we have several sites around Kansas available for Rural Preceptorship in Pediatrics.
If you are interested in participating in our program, we invite you to contact us for more information. We invite visiting students to contact us and apply through VSAS.
