Application Process

How To Apply

The KU School of Medicine-Wichita General Surgery Residency program accepts seven PGY-1 categorical residents each year. Our program consists of a total of 35 residents, with seven residents at each level from PGY 1 through PGY 5.

Application Process for the 2026 ERAS® Cycle

We accept applications only via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) from the Association of American Medical College.

We encourage all applicants to also complete the supplemental ERAS application offered through the AAMC’s ERAS program. The supplemental application provides our program staff with additional insight into applicants' medical education journey, including detailed information about work, volunteer and research experiences. This helps us identify applicants who may best fit our program’s environment and mission.
