USD 261 Haysville, KU School of Medicine-Wichita partner to provide school-based health care
Students can receive a variety of health care services at school
As of Oct. 1, KU Wichita Pediatrics and KU Wichita Medical Practice Association have partnered with two local school districts to open a school-based health clinic in each town.
The most recent is with USD 261 in Haysville, where the new clinic is in the school district's administrative building. The first School-Based Health Clinic opened this past spring in USD 262 in the Valley Center High School. You can read more about this clinic.
The goal of the clinics is to make health care more convenient for students and for parents by eliminating the need to leave the school or area and drive to physicans’ offices. An extension of this goal is to decrease absences for students and reduce missed work time for parents and caregivers.
The health provider in Haysville will be Krista Weaver, APRN. Services provided will be for in-district students, but plans include adult health care and expanded hours.
Haysville students can receive a wide variety of services including well-child visits, vaccinations, sports physicals and evaluation of acute illness or injuries such as sports injuries. Basic screenings, including COVID-19-related concerns, are available in addition to onsite lab services and off-campus lab orders. Mental health assessments, treatments and referrals are offered. To schedule an appointment, call the clinic at 316-554-2317.
