Supporting One Day. One KU. helps transform ideas into reality

Save the date for the 2024 day of giving, One Day. One KU., on Wednesday, March 6.

KU School of Medicine-Wichita will focus on three main priorities, though if you don’t see what you want to support, when the site is live, select "School of Medicine-Wichita - Other" from the list of priorities and type the fund or department name of your choice.

Priorities

  • Student Success – With your help, we want to more than double the average scholarship from $4,000 to $10,000. Scholarships are available for current and incoming medical students based on financial need.

  • Healthy & Vibrant Communities – One endeavor at KU School of Medicine-Wichita is to improve the health of our local and rural communities. One way is to continue supporting the newly funded Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship. If all our fellows stay after graduation, we could double the number of desperately needed child psychiatrists in the region in less than 10 years.

  • Campus Initiatives – Unrestricted gifts go to areas of greatest need, including transformational clinical trials, Simulation Center training and advancing the shared biomedical campus with our School of Pharmacy, Wichita State University and WSU Tech. Pooling the collective resources will result in opportunities for energized collaboration, innovation and research — ultimately improving patient outcomes across Kansas.

Last year, we raised more than $200,000 from nearly 200 gifts, placing KU School of Medicine-Wichita as No. 10 in the number of gifts received out of 47 KU entities participating.

In addition to supporting the preferences of individual donors, past contributions to KU Wichita through One Day. One KU. have enhanced OB-GYN resident educational experiences and the medical student interest group, heightened anesthesiology residents’ training, and honored the legacy of Donna Sweet, M.D., by supporting resident education in HIV, infectious disease and primary care medicine.

Ways to show your support

You can donate online on March 6, or should you wish to make your gift by check, please make it payable to KU Endowment with the fund/department name and One Day. One KU. written on the memo line. Mail it to KU Endowment, 1010 N. Kansas St., Wichita, KS 67214.

Another way to show your support is by using payroll deduction. You can support any area of the school by having gifts deducted from your paycheck. Even small amounts deducted from each check build up over time and will provide substantial support. Complete this form and email it to brukes@kuendowment.org or drop it off at the KU Endowment office next to the George J. Farha Medical Library.

Thank you for supporting your passions at KU School of Medicine-Wichita. Your gifts made in one day’s time will make a lifetime of transformations.

If you have any questions about funds or other ways to make a gift, contact Brad Rukes, KU Endowment development director for the Wichita campus, at brukes@kuendowment.org or 316-293-2641.
