New mosaic at KU School of Medicine-Wichita communicates message of serving Kansas

"Learn - Care - Heal," a custom glass mosaic tile mural, was handmade by artist Tina Murano and can be seen inside the main entrance of KU School of Medicine-Wichita.

The public is invited to attend the dedication of "Learn - Care - Heal," a custom glass mosaic tile mural installation, during the April 26 Final Friday reception at KU School of Medicine-Wichita. It is a statement piece welcoming visitors who enter the building and is representative of the school's work within Kansas communities. Handmade in a classic design by mosaic artist Tina Murano, it communicates the message of serving Kansas.

Founder of Murano Studios, Tina Murano is a regionally known artist and art consultant. She has more than 25 years of experience in the visual arts and has been commended for her numerous collaborative and integrated public art projects.

The Final Friday reception at KU School of Medicine-Wichita, 1010 N. Kansas, will include an artist talk by Murano at 6 p.m. April 26. Complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served from 5-7 p.m. See the Final Friday ICT interactive map.

"The Birds and The Beasts" exhibit, featuring watercolors by artist Garrett Briggeman, is on display in the William J. Reals Gallery of Art-West at KU School of Medicine-Wichita until April 30. "A Collective," featuring artworks in various media by artist Lily Frances Dooman, is on display in the William J. Reals Gallery of Art-East until May 31.
