4-Wichita board welcomes new medical students
The 4-Wichita board emphasizes building public awareness, governmental support and resource development in the city.

Members of the 4-Wichita Advancement Board at KU School of Medicine-Wichita made sure the new class of medical students arriving on campus had a warm Wichita welcome.
Carol Linnens and Kathie Dakhil put together 28 physician-themed care packages for the first-year medical students after contacting community businesses for tickets, passes, maps and general Wichita information. The Class of 2025 received the care packages, a nice welcome-to-campus gesture, on July 19 during their first day of orientation. Other 4-Wichita board members came to meet and visit with the new students, including Sue Watson, chair; Noreen Carrocci, chair elect; David Murfin and Jeff Van Sickle.
This isn't the first time care packages have been gifted by 4-Wichita. Dakhil and Linnens made baskets for students on a test day last year to help with stress and provide a little fun and refreshments.
The purpose of the 4-Wichita board is to further the mission of KU School of Medicine-Wichita by placing an emphasis on building public awareness, governmental support and resource development.
