Campus changes due to COVID-19

The health and well-being of our students, faculty, staff and the community are paramount.

At the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita, the health and well-being of our students, faculty, staff and the community are paramount. The university is closely monitoring COVID-19 as we follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Sedgwick County.

Operations

Our administrative offices are open with limited staff. Please call before planning a trip to our campus.

The only public entrance is the clinic entrance off of Minneapolis Street. All other exterior entrances will be badge accessible only. In addition, all incoming freight deliveries and non-food deliveries will be directed to the receiving dock.

Masks must be worn on campus, and employees must wear masks when outside of their individual workspaces (in public and common areas) and when interacting with others. Facilities personnel have been performing routine cleaning in addition to frequently cleaning high-touch points and common areas during the day.

Patient Care

Our clinics remain open at this time, but precautionary measures have been implemented. Get details from KU Wichita Medical Practice Association, which manages our clinics. The JayDoc Community Clinic is also seeing patients.

Academics

While our campus remains open, we have made some changes. Most didactic coursework for medical students has transitioned to online platforms. Student-related activities on our campus have transitioned to online platforms or are presented live in small groups with social distancing measures put in place. Students are participating in clinical education following personal safety protocols and protective equipment.

Events & Art Galleries

In following guidance from Sedgwick County, several public events have been canceled on our campus. For information on upcoming events, please contact the department hosting the event. Our William J. Reals Galleries of Art are closed to the public until further notice.

Ongoing Updates

This situation is rapidly evolving, and KU School of Medicine-Wichita is prepared to implement academic and business continuity plans as needed. We will share more information here as it becomes available.
