Dr. Taylor Laboratory
John A. Taylor, M.D., leads a research team at KU Medical Center dedicated to studying the causes of and latest treatments for bladder cancer.
Scope of Work: The lab focuses on pathway analysis (inflammation and aging) related to carcinogenesis and novel drug development and biomarker discovery. The team is recognized nationally as an expert in bladder cancer preclinical modeling and is routinely sought by academia and industry for collaboration. The lab utilizes a large tissue bank biorepository, cell culture and in-vivo models (nude, transgenic and carcinogen treated) with goals of Phase I/II translation. The lab hosts twoto three annual summer medical student research fellowships.
Funding: The lab has successfully competed for extramural funding and is currently funded in kind and perpetuity by an annual philanthropic donation from the Leo and Anne Albert Charitable Trust as well as support from the University of Kansas Medical Center Department of Urology and The University of Kansas Cancer Center.
