Visiting Sub-Internship Scholarship

The Visiting Sub-Internship Scholarship is designed for a senior medical student who is pursuing a residency in urologic surgery. This scholarship bridges an important gap between the costs associated with an away rotation and interest in the exceptional education offered by our urology program.

Scholarship Requirements

The Department of Urology at the University of Kansas Medical Center has a core mission to educate and train students of diverse backgrounds. Preference for the award will be given to students from diverse backgrounds that have been historically underrepresented in urology. The scholarship is intended to defray the costs of travel to Kansas City and the cost of lodging during the rotation, with an award up to $2,000.

Program Overview

Students will spend four weeks as a sub-intern on the urology service at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Additional sites of exposure during the rotation may include Children's Mercy Hospital and the Veteran's Administration Hospital. During the rotation, students will have extensive exposure to resident didactics and teaching conferences. Students will have access to a myriad of learning experiences, including the operating room, patient wards, clinics and simulation. In addition, students can participate in a variety of research opportunities.
