Welcome to the Vascular Surgery Fellowship program at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Department of Surgery located in Kansas City, Kansas. We are an ACGME 5+2 accredited fellowship program accepting new applications.
The fellowship is based at The University of Kansas Health Hospital, the quaternary referral center for this region and the busiest Level 1 trauma center verified by the American College of Surgeons in Kansas City. Our goal is to provide you with comprehensive training in complex vascular surgery and to help you develop clinical, research, administrative, and technical skills to ensure your success in a long vascular surgery career. A specific educational agenda and didactic conferences have been developed to create a rich educational environment and allow graduating fellows to embark on their careers confident to enter academic or private practice.
Fellows will benefit from our well-trained and diverse faculty as well as large case volumes in all aspects of vascular surgery. Our service line works seamlessly with other specialty services offering our patients truly multidisciplinary care. The large volume of both endovascular and open surgical cases will give ample opportunity to meet and exceed index case volumes.
Our program, accredited by the ACGME in 2023, is accepting one fellow per year in this 24-month training program. A successful applicant will be one who is completing an accredited ACGME general surgery residency and will be eligible to sit for the ABS general surgery boards during the fellowship. The RPVI certification will be required by the end of the first fellowship training year. Didactic, clinical, and hands-on training will be provided through our IAC-certified vascular lab.
