Prospective Visiting Students

Students who are not enrolled at the KU School of Medicine have the opportunity to apply to and participate in visiting rotations.

For non-KU Medical Center students interested in pursuing a four-week visiting rotation during their fourth year, please visit https://students-residents.aamc.org/visiting-student-learning-opportunities/visiting-student-learning-opportunities-vslo to complete your VSAS application through the AAMC.

The University of Kansas Medical Center does not accept visiting students during the spring semester. Applications for the fall term will open in late March/early April each year. Sub-internships are not available for visiting students.

If you have questions about the available clinical clerkship electives, please contact James Soulikias, surgery education coordinator, at jsoulikias@kumc.edu or 913-588-7323.

If you plan to pursue a General Surgery Residency and have confirmed enrollment in the General Surgery Clinical Clerkship (SURG 912), please contact Kate Willems, residency coordinator, at kwillems@kumc.edu to set up a brief meeting within the first week of your rotation with Dr. Jocelyn Hunter, program director.
