Message from the Director
Welcome and thank you for considering The University of Kansas Vascular Surgery Fellowship. Our fellowship is an ACGME accredited traditional 5+2 model for graduates of accredited ACGME general surgery programs and accredited ECFMG programs. We will recruit one fellow per year. Our faculty perform the full breadth of vascular surgery with large experience in all aspects of vascular pathology. Specifically, the fellow will have large experience in complex open and endovascular aortic surgery, arterial occlusive disease (peripheral and carotid), mesenteric vascular disease, venous occlusive and reflux disease, thoracic outlet syndrome, dialysis access, spine exposure, as well as other complex vascular disease such as tumor resection. We work to give a broad experience in the care and management of all types of vascular disease.
Fellows will have teaching responsibilities for our general surgery residents, medical students, and ancillary staff.
Fellows will gain exposure and competency in our IAC-accredited vascular lab. The Pegasus curriculum will be utilized for didactic training in ultrasound physics and vascular lab studies. Fellows will be expected to pass the RPVI certification at the end of the first year of training.
Fellows completing training at our program will be well rounded vascular surgeons and ready to start independent practice in academic or private practices.
Fellows will be expected to participate in research projects, case reports, or manuscripts with the goal of podium presentations of published work. KU Department of Surgery has comprehensive research resources to help fellows with projects.
Applications will be accepted through ERAS. Interviews will be conducted from January to March.
