Message from the Director

Greetings! Thank you for your interest in our program. I am delighted to tell you all about us and hope you'll find this website useful. We are a new program and as such, we are a work in progress. I think that affords us big opportunities as it relates to training fellows. We want to train the next leaders in surgical critical care and believe that our flexibility in conforming the training program to the fellow as opposed to the fellow conforming to a long-standing program sets us apart from many others.

We have a young, devoted, accomplished and enthusiastic faculty who are committed to education. We come from diverse training programs and bring those training paradigms together at The University of Kansas Health System. We have a robust PI process that allows us to ensure we are continually evaluating the latest literature and providing cutting edge, yet evidence based care to the critically ill and injured patients in the Kansas City metro area and across the state of Kansas.

Choosing a fellowship is an important decision and I can assure you that our team does not take that lightly. I am clearly biased, but I believe we have crafted an excellent program and one that can be tailored to suit your needs. I look forward to seeing your application and answering any questions you may have.
