Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship

Welcome to the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship program within the Department of Surgery at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, located in Kansas City, Kansas.

Accredited by Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) in 2018, we welcomed our first fellow via the match in 2020 and have since been thrilled to train exceptional surgeons each year. We continue to accept one fellow per year in this 12-month training program, with a required start date of August 1 and a required end date of July 31.

All applicants must apply via SSO Breast Surgical Oncology Match process to be considered. Applications will not be considered outside of this process. A successful applicant will be one who will be completing (prior to fellowship) or previously completed an accredited ACGME or ACOGME general surgery residency, including being board-eligible or board-certified.

Our fellowship is based at the University of Kansas Cancer Center, an NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Our goal is to provide you with excellent exposure to multidisciplinary breast cancer care as well as expertise in the evaluation and management of patients at high risk for breast cancer. A specific educational agenda and didactic conferences have been developed to create a rich educational environment and allow graduating fellows to embark on their careers with exceptional leadership potential. To this end, you will be immersed in an active breast surgical oncology practice and gain extensive experience collaborating with your multidisciplinary partners.

We appreciate your interest in our program and look forward to sharing more about it with you!
