Our department engages in a broad range of clinical, basic and translational research.

Graphic of a cell, nucleus, chromosome and DNAWe are committed to barrier-breaking research in all areas of mental and behavioral health that leads to difference-making discoveries. A common foundational goal of all our research is to better understand the causes of different psychiatric and behavioral disorders, including genetics, and ultimately find effective treatments and cures that improve lives through ongoing clinical trial approaches.

In addition to a strong Division of Research and Genetics and an emerging clinical trials unit, faculty and trainees throughout the department are actively involved in the research enterprise generating research projects, grant funding and peer-reviewed publications. They frequently collaborate with colleagues in the department, across KU Medical Center and at other institutions and organizations.
