Kansas City Metro Methadone Program
The Kansas City Metro Methadone Program offers medication-assisted treatment for opiate addiction. The program is located on the University of Kansas Medical Center campus in Kansas City, Kansas. Currently under the direction of Jan Campbell, M.D., the clinic was founded in 1966 and is the eighth oldest methadone maintenance clinic in the nation.
Methadone maintenance treatment is ideally suited for individuals who are addicted to opiates. Some of the benefits of this treatment are:
- Greatly reduced drug cravings
- Indefinitely delayed physical withdrawal symptoms
- A blockade effect against the abuse of other opiates
Stabilization on a daily dose of methadone allows the individual to resume a productive life without the use or abuse of unnecessary or illicit substances.
Services
The methadone program helps people who are dependent on opiates, including heroin, many prescription pain medications and other narcotic drugs by providing a range of important services, such as:
- Medication
- Counseling
- Case management services
Our care team conducts a thorough assessment on each patient who enters the program and customizes an individualized treatment plan to address unique needs, issues and concerns.
