Two KU Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences faculty earn promotions
Amanda Klass, D.O., and Shilpa Sachdeva, M.D., become associate professors, effective July 1.
Amanda Klass, D.O., and Shilpa Sachdeva, M.D., assistant professors in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Kansas Medical Center, were promoted to associate professors.
Klass and Sachdeva were among 110 individuals at KU Medical Center campuses who were approved by University of Kansas Chancellor Douglas A. Girod for promotion and award of tenure, where indicated. The promotions are effective July 1.
Klass is a KU Medical Center alumna, having completed her psychiatry residency in 2016 before joining the faculty and serving as a psychiatrist on the consult liaison service at The University of Kansas Health System. She earned her medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in 2012. Klass, who is licensed to practice in Kansas and Missouri, is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the American Psychiatric Association and International Society for Sport Psychiatry.
Sachdeva’s area of expertise is child and adolescent psychiatry, and she also serves as the department’s psychiatry clerkship director for medical students. She completed her residency as well as a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University. Her clinical and research interests include psychotherapy, trauma, infant mental health, anxiety and depression. She is licensed by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
