Plastic Surgery Shadowing Opportunities
Clinical:
Students may observe a licensed and board certified Plastic Surgery attending with full medical staff privileges during patient care activities. These experiences will occur from November to May, typically last a half-day to one full day and aim to offer insight into the Plastic Surgeon’s role, the scope of the specialty, and the operating and patient care environment.
Research:
Students may also have the opportunity to observe or assist with ongoing research efforts within the department. This may include attending lab meetings, learning about study protocols, and gaining exposure to clinical research processes in plastic surgery.
How to Apply:
1. Apply to the Clinical or Research Plastic Surgery Interest Application on RedCap.
2. Once approved by the department, and have been given a sponsor name, applicants will need to go to the Institute for Community Engagement page.
3. After reading all criteria, applcants can apply for the desired educational experience on the KEE Requirements and Application page.
NOTE: Shadow experiences will occur from November through May of each year. This policy does not apply to 3rd years on scheduled clerkships or 1/2nd years on scheduled experiences. This applies only to shadowing students.
