Ted Lockwood, M.D., Professorship in Plastic Surgery

Ted Lockwood, M.D., was an iconic figure among plastic surgeons. A Kansas City native son and KU School of Medicine alumnus, he set new standards in plastic surgery techniques to improve the quality of care for patients in Kansas City and across the nation. His inspirational career was cut short after a long battle with cancer. In 2005, Dr. Lockwood died in Kansas City at age 59.

The Ted Lockwood, M.D., Professorship in Plastic Surgery was created to help recruit an outstanding innovator in the field of academic medicine who is devoted to research, education and care in plastic surgery. A $250,000 gift has already been given to challenge others — those who knew and respected Ted Lockwood and the legacy he left to the discipline of plastic surgery — to contribute as well.

International Outreach

Contributions to our international outreach fund help support our mission of provided care to patients in San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala.  This allows for purchasing of needed supplies and supports travel expenses for the biannual trips that our department takes to perform operations in a developing area with no access to plastic surgeons.  For further details, visit our international outreach page.
